March 24-26th
Sreenidhi international school
Participants are encouraged to use technology and innovative thinking to tackle pressing environmental challenges such as climate change, waste reduction, and renewable energy. Through collaboration and experimentation, participants will work towards building a more sustainable future for all.
Each team will be working on a single main project to submit to the hackathon judge team for evaluation. You will have about 48 hours to create a functional solution, although it is not necessary for you to implement your entire idea. You will be submitting your project to a single challenge, and the project will be evaluated by the judges who will assign it a score based on a rubric which will be shared with registered participants shortly.
The final day of Technetium will feature a learnathon: a day of learning which will begin with engaging presentations by a handful of speakers in the fields of tech and sustainability. After these sessions, you will have the opportunity to personally interact with a variety of industry experts in a networking fair and pitch your projects to receive personalized feedback from them.
This event will feature a workshop where you will learn how to improve a website’s cybersecurity through ethical hacking. By simulating a real-world cyber attack, we will learn how to assess existing cybersecurity measures and fix vulnerabilities which could otherwise lead to data breaches which cost companies across the world millions of dollars annually.
Individuals will compete against each other in real-time, coding and debugging solutions to tricky challenges on their own devices. Each challenge can last between 5-10 minutes, and working solutions will be awarded a certain number of points; the person with the highest number of points will be recognized as the winner of this event!
While the main theme for the event is sustainability, all the problems and challenges given to the participants will revolve around these 4 key themes.
Energy is the lifeblood of modern society. It powers homes,
factories, and businesses. In this theme you will develop
innovative solutions that make energy more efficient, reduce
emissions, and improve energy access.
Examples: Solar energy harvesting device, energy
efficiency program for commercial buildings
Transportation is a necessity for economic and social
activity around the world. Our challenge is to develop
innovative solutions that reduce commuting times and
increase efficiency of transportation systems.
Examples: Autonomous vehicle routing system,
smart transport network for developing countries.
Waste management is an important part of keeping our
environment clean. Our challenge is to develop innovative
solutions that reduce waste generation and increase waste
management efficiency.
Examples: Smart waste collection system, waste
to energy conversion system
App development is a fun and creative way to develop problem solving skills. Our challenge is to develop innovative game and app solutions that solve real-world problems, increase efficiency, and make the world a better place, using software such as MIT App inventor
Technetium will be full of opportunities to develop valuable new skills, sharpen your existing abilities, network with industry leaders, and collaborate with other students who are just as driven as you about making a difference in the world.
This event will bring together diverse group of students from different backgrounds, providing an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals. Technetium participants are artists, storytellers, designers, and students with the passion to make a difference in the world. This hackathon provides the chance to expand networks of friends and classmates passionate about sustainability and technology.
Participating in a hackathon is an excellent opportunity to gain new skills and improve existing ones. Whether it is through our interactive workshops or unique set of challenges, we provide a platform for you to work on challenging projects and create something that matters, even if you have very little or prior experience with programming.
Although all participants will receive a Certificate of Participation, we will recognize the top-performing projects in each track with medals, trophies, and cash prizes thanks to our sponsors! We hope that this opportunity to gain recognition furthers your motivation to participate and showcase your skills.
A portion of the registration fees we receive from participants will go toward bringing sustainability to rural communities in Hyderabad through solar-powered robotics kits for young children. These kits provide hands-on interaction with sustainability and renewable energy through an exploration into the fascinating world of robotics.
